E chiude il cerchio anche la nozione che sia stata proprio questa la prima canzone scritta da Stewart per il duo, nell'estate 1981, ultimata giusto in tempo per accompagnare il fulminante esordio di It's My Party. Tra gli ultimi arrivi nella sezione storica del Phil Miller-The Legacy c'è un bel concerto degli Hatfield and the North - con Dave Stewart da poche settimane in formazione - ripresi il 4 febbraio 1973 a Londra alla Roundhouse, ospiti di una rassegna dal titolo The Changing Face of Jazz Rock che quella sera li vide protagonisti assieme ai Solid Gold Cadillac di Mike Westbrook, Morris Pert’s Sun Treader e Back Door e che di lì a pochi giorni propose anche Henry Cow, gli Ovary Lodge di Keith Tippett e Paul Buckmaster in trio con Morris Pert e Peter Robinson per una loro versione di In C di Terry Riley.
Così Aymeric Leroy sottolinea l'importanza del documento, in cui fa capolino anche il benamato Lol Coxhill: "Notwithstanding the BBC session he recorded just days after joining, this is the first recording of Hatfield with Dave Stewart in the archives, at a festival at the Roundhouse that showcased bands whose music mixed elements of jazz and rock, in this instance Back Door, Morris Pert’s Sun Treader and Mike Westbrook’s Solid Gold Cadillac. A special bonus here is the opening solo set by Lol Coxhill, who adds a welcome element of surreal humour to the proceedings. Hatfield’s set is typical of the early days of the band with a healthy dose of Matching Mole tunes, and early incarnations of future Hatfield classics, plus Pip’s rare All Day Forever, of which this is the only version with Dave, and consequently, the only recorded instance of Pip playing (rhythm) guitar alongside Dave’s keyboards (it is, of course, Phil playing lead)."
In versione leggermente migliorata, ma senza l'intervento di Coxhill, la registrazione fa ora parte anche della sterminata collezione che Richard Sinclair mantiene disponibile su Bandcamp: Roundhouse.
