Where would you find igloos near coconut palm trees?'). Seguiranno alcuni giorni a Tokyo, e poi lo show girerà in lungo e in largo tra Stati Uniti e Canada in ottobre e novembre. Dalle nostre parti arriverà più tardi, nel nuovo anno. Intanto: E pili mau nā pōmaikaʻi me ʻoe...
Eskimo Live! is an upcoming international live tour by The Residents, based on their 1979 concept album Eskimo, which is planned to begin in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 1st 2026, followed by dates in Tokyo, North America and Canada. Dates in the United Kingdom and Europe are also planned. The Eskimo tour will introduce an expanded and re-imagined version of the album, re-arranged for a four-piece live band using sampled elements from the original studio sessions, with new costumes, set design, characters, and five new "Eskimo folk tales" created especially for the tour.
The concept of a live adaptation of Eskimo originated shortly after the album's release, and was originally planned to run between (approximately) 1980 and 1981, however this version of the show was abandoned in favor of a mooted "10th Anniversary Show" (which also never came to fruition). The idea was briefly revived in 1992, this time as an opera (with set designs from Cube-E collaborator Ron Davis), and again in the mid-to-late 2000s (in a production referred to as "Eskimo On Ice"), however both of these concepts were also abandoned. On March 2nd 2024, The Residents performed a "condensed" version of the show at the San Francisco Public Library, as part of the annual multi-city arts festival Night of Ideas. The fully realized show premiered as the headlining performance of the first day of the Exotikon Exotica and Tiki Festival, at the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles on June 7th 2025.
