Ecco un breve resoconto del concerto (il loro debutto newyorchese!) degli Hatfield & the North lo scorso 25 giugno, concerto organizzato dall'infaticabile team di Downtown Music Gallery al Bowery Poetry Club:
The HATFIELD & THE NORTH show that we sponsored last Sunday (6/25/06) was indeed an incredible performance. Hatfield (Phil Miller, Richard Sinclair, Alex Maguire & Pip Pyle) played two one hour sets at the Bowery Poetry Club, their first ever New York performance. Considering their original two studio records are from over thirty years ago, their unique Canterbury/progressive blend sounded just as fresh, whimsical and crafty today. They played songs from both studio records, their single ("Fitter Stoke Takes a Bath"), a couple of songs from Matching Mole ("God Song" was just sublime!?!) and a few Richard Sinclair solo tunes. It was a perfect balance between Richard's charming vocal tunes and the riveting playing of all four master musicians.
Thanks to the 150 + folks who attended, which is pretty cool considering there was no advertising. Special thanks to Keith MacSoot, Glenn Leslie, Steve Smithf rom Time Out, Mary Huhn at NY Post and David Fricke from Rolling Stone. A second collection of Hatfield rarities should be out in a few months and we hope to able tooffer you copies of the first one as well in the near future. Hatfield & the North will be playing a two-day prog fest in Montreal in September with Miriodor. Richard Sinclair hopes to play some solo shows in NY around that time as well. We are also working on a two night Daevid Allen Fest in NY in November with University of Errors, Kramer & others... BLG
