John Butcher has been at the forefront of musical improvisation for the past 40 years, He is a saxophonist whose work ranges through improvisation, his own compositions, multi-tracked pieces and explorations with feedback, unusual acoustics and non-typical concert locations. He has collaborated with many artists and is recognised internationally as something of a one-man revolution on the tenor and soprano saxophones. The Oxford Improvisers membership includes over 20 musicians, each of whom contribute uniquely, supporting a broad range of co-existent perspectives. Since 2001 Oxford Improvisers has staged and promoted over 200 events including four Cohesion Festivals and featuring hundreds of musicians, dancers and visual artists of every kind.
