L'album poté godere di un'ottima assistenza tecnica fin dal primo momento: "Belladonna was recorded at Phonogram Studios, previously the London studios of Philips. Roger Wake, the recording engineer, was one of Phonogram’s most senior and experienced engineers. Phonogram was the first major studio to have a mixing console built by Rupert Neve, a pioneering designer of professional audio recording and mixing equipment. Over the years the Neve mixing console at Phonogram was adapted for stereo, four track, later 8 and 16. Multi-channel mixing advances and the introduction of 'pan-pots' (panoramic potentiometers) made their mark in the more complex and theatrical stereo imagery of ’70s recordings, paving the way for 4-channel quadraphonic sound, mixing in three dimensions. While recorded at Phonogram, the Belladonna session was mastered and the lacquer cut at another of London’s best studios, Lansdowne, where the mighty Rendell-Carr Quintet albums were recorded a few years previously."
