Scrive Chris Cutler: "From the start, Begnagrad defied categorisation. While firmly rooted in the Yugoslavian popular music tradition, they radically transformed it with elements of rock, punk, high energy jazz, odd metres, classical influences and avant garde experimentalism. Since people and information moved freely across the Yugoslav border, the record quickly found an appreciative public amongst the R.I.O. and experimental music community in the West and, a year later, the band was touring and appearing across the continent, its energetic, ambiguous, hybrid compositions confusing and exciting audiences in equal measure. It's a music that was never part of a fashion or period so it hasn't really aged."
