A ripercorrere oggi la breve traiettoria musicale di Roger Quigley e Mark Tranmer - ovvero The Montgolfier Brothers, titolari degli album Seventeen Stars, The World Is Flat e All My Bad Thoughts usciti in Regno Unito senza grandi clamori tra il 1999 e il 2005 - invitano le parole di un loro illustre ammiratore, Jonathan Coe, pronunciate per accompagnare la pubblicazione dell'antologico Think Once More: "Personally, I don't find it hard to see why they never found mainstream success: their songs were simply too honest, too subtle, too intelligent, too quiet, too diffident. They never made the slightest gesture which was flashy or showy or self-advertising. Just two kindred spirits in a studio, making beautiful music. What a brief, perfect legacy Mark Tranmer and Roger Quigley left behind, though. A lucky few of us have been listening to their songs for two decades or more, and our lives have been hugely enriched by them."
