Si tiene oggi al Royal Birmingham Conservatoire la terza edizione del Phil Miller Guitar Prize, che quest'anno oltre al regolare concorso per allievi e studenti alle prese con i brani del Nostro prevede il debutto di una formazione stabile composta da alcuni di loro con la guida e la partecipazione diretta di Fred T Baker e Jim Bashford, la Phil Miller Legacy Band, contando in futuro di effettuare concerti anche al di fuori delle istituzioni scolastiche. The Guitar Prize is an annual competition at the Birmingham Conservatoire, conceived by Phil Miller’s partner Herm alongside Conservatoire tutor (and long-time Phil collaborator) Fred T Baker, with Conservatoire students competing for a £1000 prize and performing Phil’s pieces to an audience in the intimate Eastside jazz venue. This is the third edition of the competition, testament to Herm’s desire to maintain a lasting legacy of Phil in the public eye. Phil’s scores have also been donated to the institution for students to peruse.
