Al più grande roditore al mondo si intitolano gruppo e album del nuovo esilarante progetto 'jungle' di Bing Selfish, cui dà non piccola mano - come sempre - qualche fuoriuscito dall'Orchestre Murphy: It's Capybara Time! Il Nostro è anche tra i protagonisti del film The Unstrument, torbido thriller ambientato nelle comunità improv e noise di Barcelona. Trama, trailer e interviste si leggono al sito del musicista, con un sunto dei più illustri pareri critici ("Difference will never be the same again", secondo John Cage).

Formed in protest at the declaration by the Pope in the 16th Century that the Capybara was in fact a fish, this group ‘The Capybaras’ strive for world peace through song and through the non-eating of Capybaras. This single/album/bingle/albumella kicks off with "Scary Death Girls"; the modern horror movie seen and taken apart by a bored 12 year old girl who already knows better. Film criticism has never had this catchy a backing before in its previous 200 years of existence. The second song is "The Capybara Suite", a heartfelt plea for understanding from the largest rodent in the world. The suite consists of eight pieces spanning musical and vocal styles and sonic worlds but is above all imbued with spirit and soul. It's an encyclopaedia, it's a lament, it's a battle cry: Capybara party in the jungle tonight!

Due nuove pubblicazioni antologiche ricompongono integralmente il catalogo felice e controverso di singoli prodotti da Dave Stewart e Barbara Gaskin nel periodo 1981-1986, superando per completezza e qualità ogni precedente compilazione - Up From The Dark, As Far As Dreams Can Go, The Singles - con l'aggiunta di oltre tre quarti d'ora tra inediti e brani in versione estesa alternativa o rimaneggiata (anche di recente), informazioni e racconti in prima persona, apparato artistico completo e foto d'epoca poco o mai viste prima. I titoli sono Broken Records-The Singles e As Far As Dreams Can Go, entrambi in edizione speciale (anche autografata, volendo) presso Burning Shed.
Scrive Dave Stewart: "This pair of CDs are a complete document of our early to mid-'80s releases plus some extras we thought would interest collectors. The original albums have been out of print for a long time and we're happy we can now make them available worldwide - it also gave us the opportunity to tell the story of how we first met and our subsequent collaboration, which has defined our careers and lives. For the new editions we remastered the tracks from original sources and were able to extend many of them by removing the 'radio fades' we used on the vinyl singles. Phil Minton torna brevemente in Italia a riproporre il seminario per 'cantanti spontanei' Feral Choir, aperto a chi è interessato a esplorare la propria musicalità e la propria vocalità e voglia approfondire i concetti di improvvisazione radicale. Scrive Minton: "The Feral Choir project is a series of vocal workshops with non-professionals, leading up to performances. It originated in the late 1980's when I was asked to do some workshops with 'non-singers' in the Musik Centrum Stockholm. The success of these led me to develop the idea further. The choir consists of a three day workshop and performance, not only for singers but for anyone who takes a delight in the freedom to experiment. I encourage participants to take a vocal leap and explore all vocal possibilities through exercises and improvisations, over the workshop period, leading to a concert."

Double Trouble è il titolo di una nuova, eccellente pubblicazione di Reel Recordings volta a documentare alcune fasi dell'attività dal vivo del gruppo Dreamtime, in varie epoche e in diverse formazioni: quintetto (1986), doppio quintetto (1991) e sestetto (2006). Tutte inedite e di notevole valore storico, le registrazioni vedono all'opera Nick Evans, Jim Dvorak, Roberto Bellatalla, Gary Curson, Jim Lebaigue, Paul Rutherford, Paul Dunmall, Kevin Davy, Marcio Mattos e Mark Sanders nei due cd audio, con la presenza anche di Keith Tippett nel terzo disco, un dvd con riprese video amatoriali realizzate al 100 Club londinese in occasione dell'omaggio a Elton Dean nel maggio 2006.

Dreamtime is an international quintet comprised of Welshman Nick Evans, trombone; American ex-pat Jim Dvorak, trumpet; Italian Roberto Bellatalla, bass, and Brits Gary Curson, alto sax; Jim Lebaigue, drums. Their collective musicality is an infectious display of extroverted composition and energetic jazz improvisation, all wrapped up and torn down in the border-less spirit that is Dreamtime. This is a so-called jazz band that reaches for music ‘beyond the notes’ and succeed with exquisite panache. Disc One presents a stunning set by the quintet before an appreciative audience at the 1986 Bracknell Jazz Festival, as introduced by compere Lol Coxhill. Disc Two lets us experience a rare 1991 recording of the Dreamtime quintet doubled up with friends: Paul Rutherford, trombone; Paul Dunmall, tenor, baritone saxophone; Kevin Davy, trumpet; Marcio Mattos, bass, and Mark Sanders, drums. Here is a powerful capture of music making as ‘back of the neck hair-raising’ as you would hope. To bring the Dreamtime into a multi-sensory realm, Disc 3 is an all-region DVD of an amateur film made at London’s 100 Club in 2006. In this performance the sextet including pianist Keith Tippett, play homage to their late friend, Elton Dean. What more can be said for the music? Everything that listening will give testament to! Double Trouble presents three discs with an ear and eye towards an overdue reappraisal of this much loved band of musical misfits, known today as ‘the dreamers’.

Scrive Archer: "Whereas the previous CD was basically a collection of poetry with electronic soundscapes, Tales of FiNiN is a different creature - it is very much a collection of songs, many of which reference more conventional jazz, blues and folk styles, or at least as conventional as you can ever expect Archer’s music to get. These 17 new tracks, spread over 2 CDs, also feature a wider sound palette than the last album. Tippetts and Archer are joined this time by phenomenal guitarist Chris Sharkey (Trio VD, Acoustic Ladyland), master percussionist Charlie Collins, a real string section (Paul Schatzberger, Beatrix Ward-Fernandez and Angela Rosenfeld), plus cameos from a variety of others.

As well as being one of the best ever Discus releases, it has also been one of the most expensive to produce, with substantial mastering and artwork costs. That’s why it would be really great if, once you’ve had a listen, you could place your pre-order now via the usual PayPal buttons.
